Imagine waking up to a fresh blanket of snow, only to realize you can’t clear your sidewalk or driveway. For many older adults and residents with disabilities, this isn’t just an inconvenience—it’s a real worry. That’s where Snow Angels Pittsburgh comes in, making it easier for all of us to help one another and bring a little extra warmth to winter days.

What is Snow Angels Pittsburgh?

Snow Angels is exactly what it sounds like—a program that lets neighbors be angels for each other! It connects older residents and individuals with disabilities to nearby volunteers who can help clear snow from sidewalks and walkways.

This simple act of kindness means so much more than shoveling snow. It offers peace of mind, keeps streets safer, and builds stronger bonds within our community. It’s one of the many ways Pittsburgh shows its heart.

Become a Snow Angel: Spread the Warmth

Last year, faith groups, community organizations, and families came together to be Snow Angels, and the impact was nothing short of inspiring. This winter, as the snowflakes begin to fall, I'm inviting YOU to be part of this movement.

Whether you’re signing up solo, joining with a group, or involving your family to teach the joy of giving back, becoming a Snow Angel is a beautiful way to show the spirit of Pittsburgh.

How You Can Get Involved

Joining the Snow Angels effort is simple! The 2024–2025 season is now open for sign-ups:

• Need Help? If you’re over 62, have a physical disability, and need help clearing snow, sign up to be matched with a Snow Angel.

  
  

• Ready to Volunteer? If you can lend a hand (or a shovel!), sign up to become a Snow Angel. They’ll do their best to match you with a neighbor nearby who could use your help.

Note: Matches depend on volunteer availability. While you may not be paired right away, they're constantly working to connect volunteers and recipients throughout the season.
