Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a Women in Manufacturing event where I had the chance to meet the remarkable Kathy Hennessy. Our follow-up coffee meeting was filled with engaging conversation and shared laughter. It was during this meeting that I learned that Kathy is a dedicated board member at Robin’s Home, an organization making a profound impact on female veterans and their children who are facing homelessness, unstable living conditions, or financial hardships. Based in Butler, PA, Robin’s Home provides essential support across seven counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Erie, Lawrence, and Mercer.

Honoring Robin's Legacy
Named after the courageous Army veteran who served during Desert Storm, Robin's Home stands as a testament to Robin's enduring legacy. Despite facing significant challenges such as sexual trauma, PTSD, and medical complications after her service, her spirit lives on through the compassionate support and comprehensive care offered to women veterans and their families. Though Robin passed away on January 27, 2017, her impact continues to thrive through the vital services provided at Robin's Home.
Meeting a Critical Demand
Robin’s Home proudly serves as the sole agency in Butler County dedicated to providing supportive housing for homeless women veterans and their children. This crucial service addresses a pressing need, as women veterans represent the fastest-growing segment within both the military and homeless populations. Shockingly, they are twice as likely to face homelessness compared to their male counterparts.
Comprehensive Services Offered
Robin’s Home is dedicated to providing an extensive array of services, which include:
Housing
Case Management
Legal Referrals
Financial Literacy
Disability Claims Assistance
Child Services Referrals
Workforce Development
Women Veteran Peer Support Services (available in Butler, Armstrong, Clarion, Lawrence, and Mercer Counties)
Expanding Support with Veterans H.E.A.R.T. Resource Center

The Veterans H.E.A.R.T. Resource Center, is a dedicated part of the Robin’s Home family of services, actively involved in supporting veterans in Butler County. With over 12,000 veterans living in the region, the Resource Center is devoted to offering crucial assistance and promoting development, recovery, and companionship among veterans.
